I live in Ryde, on the Isle of Wight and am planning to home
educate my two sons, born March 2004 and September 2006, using a Waldorf
style. We're quite non-mainstream, but not as non-mainstream as we'd like
to be, and we'd like to meet up with other people who want to bring their
children up using Waldorf principles, and who won't think we're strange
because we co-sleep, breastfeed beyond the first year etc!! We're all very
new to a non-mainstream lifestyle so are still finding our way, and would
welcome any new ideas to support us on our journey. Please email

We live in Beeston (Nottingham), a short walk away from the river.
We love going to a (not so nearby) Steiner parent and toddler group and
discovering more about Steiner education and thinking. Being a teacher
myself and a firm believer in life long learning, we're thinking that home
education could be for us. Our nearly 4 year old son is thriving on a TV
free life, full of contact with natural things, storytelling, the
outdoors, baking, gardening, woodwork, crafts etc. and, of course, love.
Is there anybody out there wanting to join us for playtime/snacktime,
walks in the park and sharing what parents have to offer? Lisa:

San Diego Lupine Family Homeschoolers, an off-shoot of Lisa's Lupine
Family Homeschoolers, is up and running. We are a nature- and
Waldorf-inspired group that meets each Wednesday; we currently have kids
ages 4-12 but make room for older and younger siblings. We celebrate the
seasons with festivals and seasonal crafts and activities - we grow a patch
of wheat and harvest it, wash and dye wool, make applesauce and candles,
dance around the May pole. The kids have their own garden, 2.5 acres to
explore, we build, dig,
create. We celebrate the art that is in everything from music and movement
to science and crafts. For more information email Shannon at

community of parents and friends that have joined together to form the only
Waldorf-inspired school in Iowa (that we know of!), Prairie Flower
Children's Center - a preschool and daycare. We have a small, but growing
group of homeschoolers, most of them graduates of the preschool, who get
together for a monthly homeschool craft group and also communicate regularly
to share ideas & resources. AWA sponsors celebrations and festivals
throughout the year as well as a monthly craft group for adults, weekly
parent-child playgroups for children under 3, regular crafting workshops
(doll-making, felting,...), speakers and a quarterly newsletter called Whole
Child.

Nature, nurture, love, gentleness, kindness, prayer, acceptance of others,
etc. We don't allow our kids to generally watch tv, etc. Also, we eat pure
things - organic foods mostly. We are looking for ideally a male playgroup
at the beginning. Muslims with similar thinking are welcome, however other
parents with similar mindset please contact us. We refer to Islamic scholars

Mornings Children: We are a
Waldorf-inspired group of homeschoolers on the eastside of Cleveland,
Ohio. Last year, we had two groups that met two days/week led by Waldorf
trained teachers: mixed grades 1-5, and preschool-kindergarten. Each group
met in a home. This year, the preschool-kindergarten will continue with the
same teacher and will be meeting in a church space. We are currently looking
for a grades teacher; if we don't find one, we will be organizing a
parent-led day of activities for the grades group. We will also be gathering
to prepare for and celebrate festivals and we have a Mom's handwork group.
We are a subgroup of a larger group of homeschooling families with lots of
shared ideas and activities. If you're interested in hearing more, contact

homeschool co-op meeting weekly to share play, circle, story and crafts in a
lovely home setting. We also organize a (near) weekly Friday field trip for
Waldorf-inspired homeschoolers in the Seattle area. At this point,
our children are all under five, but we are open and welcoming to older
children as well. If you are interested in a co-op or a day out with other
homeschooling families, please contact Lisa by phone at (206)406-7398 or

British Waldorf mom moving to Seattle
in August 2006, homeschooling three children (9/13/95; 12/17/97; 01/23/01) -
love to make contact with other Waldorf inspired homeschoolers with a view
to setting up regular playdates/lesson sharing/festival celebrating. My kids
are all at a Waldorf school in the UK and I'm worried that they may feel
isolated in a new city to begin with - so we'd love to make new friends!
